Cylindropuntia rosea is a species of the genus Cylindropuntia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet rosea means '(Latin roseus) rosy, rose red'. English common names are "Branched Pencil Cholla" and "Diamond Cholla".

Cylindropuntia rosea grows shrubby, branching from the base with ascending branches and reaches heights of 20 to 50 centimeters. There are clearly recognizable humps on the gray-green, cylindrical, 10 to 15 centimeters long and 1.6 to 2.5 centimeters in diameter shoot sections . The large areoles are 2 to 3.5 centimeters apart. They have yellow glochids 2 to 5 millimeters long . The four to nine thorns , occasionally only a single one, are needle-like, yellow to reddish to gray and 1 to 4 centimeters long. Their papery, yellowish sheaths do not completely cover the thorns.
The pink flowers are 3.8 to 4 centimeters in length. The wrongly conical to wrongly ovate, yellow fruits are thorny and clearly tuberous. They are 1.6 to 1.8 inches long and 1.1 to 1.4 inches in diameter.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Cylindropuntia rosea is common in the Mexican states of Hidalgo , México , Puebla and Tlaxcala .
The first description as Opuntia rosea by Augustin-Pyrame de Candolle was published in 1828. Curt Backeberg placed the species in the genus Cylindropuntia in 1958 .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
