Cyphanthera anthocercidea is a plant type from the genus cyphanthera in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Cyphanthera anthocercidea is an upright shrub with a height of up to 2 m. The twigs are moderately tomentose, the hair consists of tree-shaped, non-glandular and smaller glandular trichomes . The leaves on later shoots are ovate to narrowly ovate, rarely ovoid-elliptical. They are completely or almost sessile, 8 to 35 mm long and 2 to 10 mm wide and sparsely hairy, young leaves are up to 11 cm long and 4 cm wide and have up to 15 mm long stalks.

The inflorescences are dense, panicle-shaped and leafy. The flowers are on 2.5 to 6.5 mm long, sparsely hairy pedicels . The calyx is 3 to 4 mm long, hairless or almost hairless. The crown reaches a length of 10 to 14.5 mm, is almost hairless, white and provided with purple stripes. The corolla lobes are ovate-cut to linear, 4 to 5.5 (rarely up to 9) mm long. The stamens reach a length of 2 to 4 mm.

The fruit is a more or less spherical capsule with a diameter of 4 to 5 mm, it contains 2.4 to 3.5 mm long seeds .

Distribution and locations

The species is mainly found in the Wimmera region in the Australian state of Victoria , but there are also records of occurrences from eastern Victoria, where it was last collected in 1882. Cyphanthera anthocercidea grows in rocky gullies in dry hardwood forests and on exposed rocky outcrops in bushland. It prefers sandy soils with sandstone.
