description

Cyphanthera racemosa is a shrub up to 1.2 m high . Its branches are usually sparsely tomentose with non-glandular trichomes . The leaves are sessile or almost sessile, narrowly elliptical, elongated or, conversely, ovoid. They are 5 to 25 mm long, 1.5 to 4.5 mm wide and have sparsely tomentose hair. Leaves of young plants are larger and slightly fleshy.

The inflorescences are thyrsen-shaped . The flowers are on 4 to 20 mm long pedicels . The calyx becomes 2 to 7 mm long, can be hairless or hairy and is often tinged with purple. The crown is 7 to 18 mm long, hairy on the outside, colored white and provided with purple stripes. The corolla lobes are usually egg-shaped to elliptical in shape, 3 to 11 mm long and papillary on the inside . The stamens are 3 to 5.5 mm long.

The fruit is an egg-shaped-elliptical capsule with a length of 3.5 to 5 mm. It contains seeds 1.6 to 2.5 mm in length.

Distribution and locations

The species occurs in the southwest of Western Australia , near the west coast, between the lower Murchison River and Kellerberrin . Cyphanthera racemosa grows in the scrubland and in the heather bush on sandy plains and coastal dunes and often occurs after fires.
