Cyril Paul
Cyril John Paul (born May 31, 1903 in Barnet , † September 16, 1984 in Bury St Edmunds ) was a British racing driver .
Career
Cyril Paul was active as a racing driver in the late 1920s and 1930s. In 1928 he finished fourth in an Austro-Daimler in the RAC Tourist Trophy and a year later third in the 500-mile race in Brooklands . A race that he and Clive Dunfee won in 1931 in a Bentley Speed Six registered by Woolf Barnato .
He competed four times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . On his debut in 1928 , he retired on a factory Aston Martin after 82 laps due to a technical defect. A year later , an engine failure on his Alvis stopped him . In 1934 and 1935 he was a works driver for Riley and was a team mate of Freddie Dixon and in 1934 achieved third place overall, his best placement in this endurance race .
