Czesław Domin (born July 6, 1929 in Michałkowice, today Siemianowice Śląskie , Poland ; †  March 15, 1996 in Warsaw ) was auxiliary bishop in Katowice (1970 to 1992) and bishop of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg from 1992 to 1996.

Life

After graduating from high school , he studied theology at the Silesian University in Katowice ( Kattowitz ) and entered the seminary . He was ordained a priest on June 28, 1953 . First parish vicar at the cathedral in Katowice , he worked as a priest in the diocese from 1957 to 1964. With his appointment to the cathedral chapter , he took over the pastoral department in the diocese.

On June 6, 1970 Pope Paul VI appointed him . the auxiliary bishop in Katowice and titular bishop of Dagnum . He received his episcopal ordination on August 15, 1970 from his diocesan bishop Herbert Bednorz . The auxiliary bishops in Katowice Juliusz Bieniek and Józef Benedykt Kurpas were co-consecrators . His other duties were vicar general in Katowice and then Caritas director. In 1979 he received a master's degree from the Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw. On November 4, 1980 he was co-consecrator at the consecration of Janusz Edmund Zimniak , the new auxiliary bishop in Katowice and titular bishop of Polinianum . The Polish Bishops 'Conference appointed him chairman of the Charitable Commission of the Polish Bishops' Conference. In this function he coordinated spontaneously arriving aid transports for almost two decades during the "Poland Aid" years, initially from Germany and soon from all over the world and directed them to all dioceses in Poland.

In 1991 he took part in the special meeting of the "Church in Europe", a synod of bishops in Rome.

On February 1, 1992 Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg. The solemn entry into his cathedral church St. Marien in Koszalin was on February 23, 1992.

Bishop Czesław Domin is an honorary citizen of his birthplace, Siemianowice Śląskie. There, as well as in Katowice and Koszalin, streets were dedicated to him.

He found his final resting place in the vestibule of the cathedral in Koszalin.
