Career

Janik, who started for Wisła-Gwardia Zakopane , appeared on December 30, 1972 as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1972/73 in Oberstdorf for the first time at an FIS competition . When jumping from the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck , he achieved his best career result with 44th place. In the overall standings, he finished 62nd. A year later, Janik ended the Four Hills Tournament prematurely because he had no chance with 76th place in Oberstdorf and 64th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

In the spring of 1973 Janik surprisingly became Polish champion on the Malinka large hill in Wisła ahead of the favored Tadeusz Pawlusiak and Wojciech Fortuna . Only a few weeks later he took second place behind Tadeusz Pawlusiak at the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in Zakopane . Janik could not show this performance in the following years and was largely unsuccessful.
