Czesław Polewiak

Czesław Polewiak (born January 1, 1944 in Jeżopole , ( Lututów )) is a former Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Polewiak had his greatest successes in cyclo- cross races , although he also successfully competed in road races. In 1964 he won the Polish championship in cyclo-cross racing, in 1965 he was able to defend the title from Marian Kegel . He was also the title holder in 1966, 1970, 1971, 1974 and 1975. In 1966 he won the Małopolski Wyścig Górski stage race and thus secured a starting place in the Polish team for the International Peace Drive , which he finished 25th in the overall ranking. In 1972 he was 22nd again. In 1967 he finished 15th and won a stage of the Tour of Poland . In 1968 he was third in Jan Krekel's victory in the Tour of Austria . At the Tour of Poland in 1970 he finished second behind Jan Stachura . In 1971 he won the national championship in mountain driving.

He started five times at the UCI World Championships in cyclo-cross races, in 1974 he was fifth in the victory of Robert Vermeire , in 1975 he finished 6th.
