Marian Kegel

Marian Kegel (born May 25, 1945 in Poznań , † September 19, 1972 ibid) was a Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He made his first appearance for the Polish national team in 1964 in France at the Grand Prix de l'Humanité , which he finished third. In addition to road cycling , he also rode cross-country races (including third place in the Polish championship in 1964 behind the winner and specialist Czeslaw Polewiak ). In 1966 he became Polish champion in the team time trial . He has also won medals several times at the Polish championships in road races , team time trials, mountain driving, cross-country races and in the single track pursuit .

In 1968 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics in Mexico City . There he finished 10th in the Olympic road race in the victory of Pierfranco Vianelli , with the Polish team he was sixth in the team time trial . A year later he was 17th in the individual race at the UCI Road World Championships , which was won by Leif Mortensen . He started four times in the International Peace Tour ; 12th place in 1967 was his best result in the overall individual ranking .
