The Danish Media and Journalism University (Danish: Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole), DMJX for short , is a higher education institution and knowledge center for media and journalism .

DMJX is divided into the campus in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen , and the campus in Aarhus , Denmark's second largest city. DMJX was founded in 2008 through the merger of the Danish School of Journalism , the Graphic Design Institute of Denmark and UPDATE into a joint educational institute.

Denmark's Journalism College (Danmarks Journalisthøjskole)

After the first journalism courses in Denmark were offered in 1946 at Aarhus University , in 1971 the Danish School of Journalism was spun off as an independent institution with the possibility of a Bachelor in Journalism. In 1992, the educational program was expanded to include a four-year bachelor's degree in photojournalism . The Bachelor's degree in corporate communication has been available in Aarhus since 2011 and in Copenhagen since 2013.

Graphic Design Institute Denmark

Founded in 1943, the Graphic Design Institute Denmark has offered theoretical training in the graphic design sector ever since. Since the 1990s, the courses have focused in particular on digital and print media, with the option of a bachelor's degree in media production and management. In 2006 the study program was expanded to include a bachelor's degree in TV and media planning, and in 2007 the graphic communication branch was separated into the sub-areas of graphic design , interactive design and creative communication . The last bachelor's degree in visual communication was introduced in 2012 and corporate communication in 2013 .

Fields of study

The fields of study include numerous courses (bachelor and master programs) as well as courses and training in journalism, photojournalism, graphic design and media. For students who want to spend a semester abroad, DMJX offers lectures in English in the winter semester. In the summer semester all lectures are given in Danish. In all study areas, the focus is on individual projects in cooperation with various media.

Here, the focus is on practical teaching design, which is why research trips inside and outside Denmark are an integral part. A special offer - especially for foreign students - is the Europe in the World course . In this course journalism in all its facets is lived out in two European countries.
