Emine Akbaba
Emine Akbaba (* 1987 in Hanover ) is a freelance photographer and documentary filmmaker . It deals thematically with violence against women in the Middle East , but also shows an individual view of migrant life in Germany. Her photo series and video reports have received several awards.
Life
Emine Akbaba was born in 1987 to Turkish parents in Hanover. She studied photojournalism at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and at the Danish School for Media and Journalism in Aarhus , where she obtained a diploma in Advanced Visual Storytelling in 2016 .
Akbaba's work - in collaboration with non-profit organizations, newspapers and magazines - is mostly designed as long-term projects. With her photo series Mikrokosmos Schrebergarten , with which she took part in the Zenith photo competition in 2013 , she documented the everyday life of people of Turkish origin in Germany. She travels regularly to Turkey and other Middle Eastern countries for her reports. In her multimedia report Precious Blossom she documents violence against women in Turkey. For the report Beyond Dreams and Hopes, which portrays a Syrian family fleeing the war , she traveled to the Turkish-Syrian border region.
Emine Akbaba lives in Hanover.
