Under the title Düsseldorf Monatshefte firmierte a German satirical magazine between 1847 and 1861. The first year of monthly magazines published in 1847/48. With volume 14 in 1861, the magazine ceased to appear.
profile
Düsseldorf artists in particular participated in their magazine, such as Andreas Achenbach , Oswald Achenbach , Wilhelm Camphausen , Theodor Hildebrandt , Henry Ritter , Adolf Schroedter , Johann Baptist Sonderland and Franz Wieschebrink . On the cover of the first year 24 employees and on the second (1849) 27 employees were named. It was also possible to win over artists from abroad, such as the Berlin Theodor Hosemann and the Zeulenroda ophthalmologist Ferdinand Schröder . The model of the newspaper was the Parisian satirical paper Le Charivari . No other political satirical magazine in Prussia had such a top artistic performance to offer.
Edition
The editions of the Düsseldorf monthly issues were considerable for the circumstances. Their initially irregular appearance should prevent the censorship authorities from intervening. Initially, a print run of 5,000 copies could be sold, in 1854 the number of subscribers was 600. The loss of importance was also due to a more conciliatory tendency of the magazine after 1849, but also to a decline in quality.
management
The history painter Lorenz Clasen was in charge of the sheet from 1847 to the end of 1849 .
