Dārāb ( Persian داراب) is one of the cities of Fars Province and Darab city center. It lies in the southeastern province of Fars in Iran with its long history. The distance from Darab to Shiraz is 245 km. The cities of Neyriz, Fasa , Estahban, Jahrom , Tsarina Dascht, and Larestan are neighbors and resemble Sirjan , Kerman Province, and Hormozgan Province.

Dārābgerd

7 km southwest of Dārāb are the ruins of Dārābgerd , the former capital of the Darabjerd region (now Qal'a or Kandaq Dahia ). "Dārā", an Achaemenid king or local ruler, is considered to be the founder of the city. According to the historian Tabari , it was from here that Ardaschir I undertook his first expeditions of conquest before he moved his residence to Ardeshir Khureh ( Firuzabad ).

Three rock reliefs from early Sassanid times and a citadel made of adobe bricks with rich stucco decorations from the time of Shapur II can be seen here.

Tobacco, cotton, wheat, citrus fruits, dates, wine, vegetables and roses are grown in Dārāb. There are also salt mines on site . The city is also known for its carpets and embroidery.
