D-Plus was a public radio broadcaster for Deutschlandradios . As a so-called additional radio offer of the national German radio, the channel went on air on December 4, 2006 under the motto: "D-Plus - The documentation channel of Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur ".

D-Plus initially started as a one-year “value-added project”, which was initially supposed to run until December 2007, but was discontinued on July 31, 2007 due to the non-conformity with the State Treaty on Germany Radio. Own programs were produced and broadcast independently of the DLF and DKultur programs from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The radio program was distributed nationwide via the DAB network of Deutschlandfunk, which was split up for this period. Furthermore, the station could be received via a live stream.

program

D-Plus saw itself as a kind of counterpart to Phoenix , the event channel of ARD and ZDF , and similarly broadcasted radio and television talk programs such as the press club or the political talk Maybrit Illner , formerly Berlin-Mitte, as well as others from ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio Kultur and Deutschlandfunk produced programs. In addition, D-Plus contained documentary and informative elements from the areas of culture, politics and background reporting. Various radio plays, including for children, were also broadcast. Important events such as elections and controversial Bundestag debates were included in the program as special broadcasts. The program schedule also provided for programs from the fields of sport, news, interviews, business, features and information on DAB reception. The discussion forum Pariser Platz from Deutschlandradio Kultur or the Zeit-Forum der Wissenschaft from Deutschlandfunk and the program Im Dialog von Phoenix were also to be listened to with a delay . The journalist, author and media producer Peter Kolakowski , who also works for Deutschlandfunk and other radio and TV stations, was hired as main editor and presenter .

Receptibility

D-Plus could be received as an independent transmitter via DAB. The program Documents and Debates (Dok & Deb), which is also broadcast digitally by Deutschlandradio, partly took over the broadcasts from D-Plus. The programs could also be heard digitally via the Astra satellite at 19.2 ° East.

Closing date

Due to the inconsistency of the channel with the DeutschlandRadio State Treaty, broadcasting was discontinued on July 31, 2007. The reason for this was that the Association of Private Broadcasting and Telemedia (VPRT) submitted a review of the validity of the station to the Broadcasting Commission of the federal states and this accordingly prohibited retransmission of the station.
