DC Shoes ( D roors C Lothing Shoe Co. USA) is an American clothing products manufacturer. DC Shoes products are best known in the skater scene .

history

DC Shoes was founded in 1994 in Vista , a small town in the San Diego area of California, by Ken Block and Damon Way (older brother of famous skateboarder Danny Way ). A few years later they hired a tax advisor, Clayton Blehm , who was unemployed at the time. A legal dispute due to various causes broke out between the founders and Blehm over the years, but has now ended.

Originally, the name of the company should have been Eightball when they only made T-shirts for skate shops. However, since a company from Seattle was already operating under this name, a new one had to be found, which was initially called Droors Clothing . Cheeky advertising campaigns were the result, in which opinion leaders were the main focus . Since the sale of Droors, the name is now officially DC Shoes . In 2004 the brand was taken over by Quiksilver . Marketing no longer corresponds to the philosophy of all businesses in the skateboard industry since the takeover by Quiksilver. In 2009, the distribution of goods in Germany (and Europe) was taken over by DC-Europe. The German distributor Urban Supplies, which sold the brand there and thus also helped to build it up, lost distribution due to direct sales by DC-Europe. Skateboard shops that have promoted and sold DC as a skateboard brand from the start saw DC Europe begin to expand their distribution network more commercially.
