GDR special league 1985/86 (badminton)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GDR special league in badminton was in the 1985/86 season the highest team division of the sport called badminton in the GDR . It was the 27th edition of this team championship. For the first time the league was called special league . The number of teams in the league was also increased from three to six, so that Robur Zittau, who had been relegated from the previous year, was replaced by three new teams (EBT Berlin, DHfK Leipzig and activist Niederwürschnitz). There were other innovations in the competition mode. In a simple round without a second leg, a preliminary round table was determined in the mode everyone against everyone, from which the first three teams formed a championship group and the last three teams a relegation group. In this second round, each team had one home right and the other two teams were guests at the same time, so that three games per group were played on three weekends. Master was unity Greifswald, activist Niederwürschnitz had to relegate.
