Klaus Skobowsky

Klaus Skobowsky (born January 18, 1958 in Finsterwalde ) is a former German badminton player .

Life

Klaus Skobowsky learned to play with badminton in his hometown Tröbitz at the local activist association . He was one of the dominant male badminton players in his age group from childhood to juniors , not least because of his strong left flapping hand. His seventh national title was also his greatest sporting success: He won the GDR junior championship in men's doubles together with his Fürstenwalder partner Rainer Sperfeldt. With the adults it was then difficult to assert himself against the strong Greifswald competition for Erfried and Edgar Michalowski (y) as well as against the top players of his own Troebitz club. At the side of his club mates, however, as a regular in the top division team, he managed to become team runner-up five times in a row. In the individual disciplines he triumphed in 1975 and 1980: In both years he won the bronze medal in men's doubles. In 1986 he won his last medal in GDR championships with silver in the team. In 1989 he helped the Tröbitzer team for the last time as an active player in the successfully completed promotion to Oberliga B in the home hall.

Klaus Skobowsky lives in Finsterwalde today .
