Rena Scheithauer (born June 4, 1958 in Dorfchemnitz , married Rena Eckart ) is a former German badminton player .

Career

Rena Scheithauer learned to play with badminton from her father and trainer Werner Scheithauer in her hometown at the local Verein Einheit Dorfchemnitz together with her brother Jens Scheithauer . Her father's work soon bore fruit: as early as 1970, at the age of eleven, she won her first gold medal at the GDR youth championships. However, she achieved her greatest sporting success during her one-year guest appearance at the traditional Niederlausitz club progress Tröbitz . With the team she became GDR runner-up in 1975. After studying sports and the birth of her children Anne and Paul, she retired from competitive sports in order to become active again as a trainer in the 1990s. After her employment as a regional trainer in the state of Brandenburg, she switched to the Bavarian Badminton Association in the middle of the first decade of the new millennium, now a qualified A-trainer.

Rena Eckart lives in Rosenheim today . She currently works as a sports coordinator for the Austrian Badminton Association .
