The DECCA transmitter Zeven was a transmitter of the Decca navigation system near Zeven in Lower Saxony in Germany . The DECCA transmitter Zeven used as the main antenna end a 93 meter high, insulated against earth, guyed lattice steel mast and as a reserve antenna has a 46-meter high guyed lattice steel mast, which is also isolated from ground.
The DECCA transmitter Zeven belonged to the German DECCA chain 3F established in 1952 for radio navigation in the air corridors to and from West Berlin , which consisted of the transmitters Brilon , Stadtkyll and Coburg-Lautertal . In this chain he took over the function of the "Green" station and transmitted on 127.1100 kHz.
From 1968 the station also served as the Purple station of the Frisian chain and occupied the frequency 71.433 kHz. From 1992 until the end of the operation of the Frisian Decca chain on December 31, 1999, this station was operated exclusively for this DECCA chain.
On April 19, 2017 at 10.30 am, the 93-meter-high transmission mast, erected in 1952, was blown up after a 65-meter-high lattice tower erected next to it had taken over its function as a carrier for cell phone antennas.
Differential Global Positioning System
After the shutdown, the facility was not used until 2004. Since this year it has been used to broadcast medium wave DGPS signals on the frequency 303.5 kHz. The ID of the reference station is 763. Together with the DGPS transmitter Groß Mohrdorf (20 km northwest of Stralsund ) and the DGPS transmitter on Heligoland , these three transmitters cover the entire German North and Baltic Sea coast. Although the DGPS transmitter on Heligoland could also cover the German North Sea coast on its own, the DGPS transmitter Zeven was also put into operation in order to have greater availability for the port accesses on the Elbe , Weser and Ems . The range of the transmitters is approx. 285 km each.
