The DECCA transmitter Lautertal , also known as DECCA transmitter Coburg , was the "Red" station of the German DECCA chain 3F operated on the frequency 112.9867 kHz , the one from the master station in Madfeld ( Brilon ) and the two other subsidiary stations existed in Zeven and Stadtkyll and went into operation on January 17, 1952. The DECCA transmitter Lauterberg, which was also known as DECCA transmitter Coburg , was located on the Lauterberg and used a 101-meter-high, self-radiating transmitter mast that was isolated from earth.
Until October 1969 the transmitter also served as a mid-wave transmitter (secondary transmitter) for Bavarian broadcasting . At the frequency 1602 kHz, the radiated power was 1 kW ( EMRP ).
The DECCA transmitter Lautertal, which was used for radio navigation in the air corridors to and from West Berlin , was shut down together with the other stations in the German DECCA chain in March 1992.
In contrast to the systems in Madfeld and Stadtkyll, the antenna mast on the Lauterberg was not dismantled, but shortened to a height of 74 meters and converted into a transmitter mast for cellular and directional radio . The guy foundations for the upper guy are still visible today.
The transmitter, which is often confused with Sender Meeder , the German radio tower transmitter on the Senningshöhe , is located on the edge of the Lauterberg nature reserve .
