The DGS Druckguss Systeme AG , headquartered in St. Gallen is an international Swiss manufacturer of die-cast parts . The company, which is mainly active in the automotive industry , produces die-cast parts in aluminum and magnesium alloys at its three locations , which are mechanically pressed into steel molds under high pressure. These are used in a wide variety of areas, but mainly in automotive engineering .

In its traditional plant in St. Gallen, the company operates the largest and, at 168 tons, heaviest die-casting machine that has ever been assembled in Switzerland. In addition, DGS Druckguss Systeme has another plant in Liberec ( Czech Republic ) and one in Nansha ( People's Republic of China ).

The company employs a total of around 1100 people and generated sales of 180 million Swiss francs in 2016.

history

The company emerged from Bühler AG, founded in Uzwil in 1860 . This began in the 1920s to use die casting technology to manufacture aluminum parts for the construction of its own mill systems. Since the die-casting machines purchased in the USA did not meet Bühler's expectations, the company began developing and building its own die-casting systems. The first metal die casting machines were put into operation in 1927.

In 1999, the Swiss industrial group Von Roll took over the die and injection molding plant in St. Gallen from Bühler Druckguss AG, which was established in the 1950s and became Von Roll Druckguss AG . In 2000 Von Roll acquired the factory in Liberec in the Czech Republic from Frantisek Svobodnik - Alupress, which was founded in 1991 . The activities were fully integrated into the newly founded Von Roll Alupress sro . In the course of his restructuring, Von Roll had to part with the two plants in 2003. These were taken over by the two industrial entrepreneurs Karl Felix Stürm and Hans Huber from St. Gallen and merged to form DGS Druckguss Systeme AG .

On the occasion of EUROGUSS 2008, the company received an award at the international die-casting competition for the cast part of the air outlet grille for the Audi R8 . First prizes were won at EUROGUSS 2010 with a complex valve block made of aluminum and at EUROGUSS 2012 with a thin-walled structural cast part.
