DJ Ray-D was born in Kassel in 1975 and got his first contact with hip-hop in 1988 in the Kassel Discothek World , where he was a regular guest from 1991 to watch the then resident DJ mixing. He began to occupy himself more with turntablism, in which the hang-up is considered a creative means of expression and the technical mastery of the turntable is the focus.

The next big step followed in 1993 with a DJ competition, also in the Kassel discotheque World, where he noticed that these competitions challenged and motivated him positively, especially since he was able to enter into direct exchange with other big DJs and well-known turntablists there shaped his career.

In 1996 he took part in the German Technics DMC Championships in Bochum with his DJ colleague DJ Mem Brain. They achieved first place as a team and had thus achieved participation in the World Championships in Rimini. There they reached the finals as a DJ team and thus among the 10 best DJs in the world.

In 1997 DJ Ray-D took part in the German Technics DMC Championships as a solo act and became German champion for the second time. He qualified again for the World Championships in Rimini and made it back to the finals there. In 1998 he became Vice-Champion of the German Technics DMC Finals in the Tarm Center in Bochum and also Vice-Champion of the German ITF / IDA Finals in the Turbinenhalle in Duisburg.

In 2000 he achieved 3rd place at the German Technics DMC Finals and also 3rd place at the German ITF / IDA Finals in the Hamburg market hall. This success was followed by his first appearance on the radio show Clubnight at HR3 in Frankfurt.

In 2002 he became the official DJ of MC Rene (tour with MC Rene and the K-rings Brothers through Germany, Switzerland and Austria). From then on, he decided to concentrate full-time on club DJing. So he began to play in various clubs all over Germany, Holland, Austria and Switzerland.

In 2012, 2014 and 2016 he produced the scratches for the German-speaking rapper Kool Savas , for his albums Aura (2012), Märtyrer (2014) and Essahdamus (2016).

In 2013 he put on the Hessentag in his hometown Kassel in front of 30,000 people with planet radio and HIT Radio FFH . In 2016 he toured Germany with Serato and RANE to present the latest features of the DJ software.

In 2018 he opened the Raycademy DJ School in Frankfurt am Main, where he has been promoting newcomer DJs himself, sharing his many years of experience and teaching how to use equipment or turntablism.
