DRYOS or Dryos is a real-time operating system from Canon . It has been used in digital cameras and camcorders that use a chip from the DIGIC series from version 4 onwards since 2007 .

DRYOS replaces VxWorks from Wind River Systems , which was used in all cameras with Digic2 (DIGIC II) and some cameras with Digic3 (DIGIC III). DryOS has previously been used in other Canon devices such as digital camcorders and high-end webcams .

DRYOS has a 16 kilobyte large kernel and currently runs on more than ten different CPUs . The operating system provides a simulation-based environment for troubleshooting. Canon has developed USB and middleware compatible device drivers for file systems and network devices.

DRYOS aims to be compatible with μITRON 4.0 and POSIX .
