The Dachverband Osteologie eV (DVO) is the umbrella organization of German-speaking scientific osteological societies. The association gives guidelines such as E.g. the DVO guideline osteoporosis 2017 . Furthermore, the association at Georg Thieme Verlag publishes the specialist journal Osteologie / Osteology every quarter as the official organ of the umbrella association , including reviews and original articles on current knowledge about osteological and orthopedic issues. In this context, Georg Thieme Verlag awards the Thieme Osteology Prize (previously Schattauer Osteology Prize ), endowed with 1000 euros, for the "Article of the Year" every year. Once a year, the DVO organizes the OSTEOLOGY congress with comprehensive information on new developments in osteology with a focus on osteoporosis .
