Daesung (2016)

Daesung ( 강대성 ; born April 26, 1989 in Seoul ; real name is Kang Dae-sung ) is a South Korean singer and actor. He has been a member of the boy band Big Bang since 2006 . In Japan, Kang is known as D-Lite .

biography

Kang was born in Seoul in 1989. Kang was interested in music from an early age. In the early 2000s he was cast by YG Entertainment . Kang made his debut with Big Bang in August 2006 at the YG Family's 10th Anniversary concert. The first studio album by the group Bigbang Vol.1 was released in December of the same year and includes his first song as a solo artist Try Smiling . In 2008 he joined the cast of the Family Outing series and the musical Cats . In May 2011, Kang was involved in a car accident in which a motorcyclist died. In August, the public prosecutor closed the investigation. There is no concrete evidence that Kang was responsible for the motorcyclist's death. In February 2013, Kang released his first studio album D'scover under the name D-Lite . It entered the Japanese album charts at number two and stayed there for 19 weeks. Between March and June he held his D'scover tour with 25 concerts in Japan. In total, the tour was attended by more than 100,000 people. His second studio album, D'slove , was released in July 2014 and went back to number two. In the summer of 2014 he held 21 concerts in Japan as part of his D'slove tour, which were attended by 170,000 people. In March 2018, Kang began his 21-month military service.
