biography
Fine Killing Liberty
Lee Hyori began her career as a leader of the girl group Fin.KL . The group made their debut on May 22, 1998 with the single "Blue Rain". The second single "To My Boyfriend" was her first number 1 hit. Fin.KL quickly developed into one of the most successful groups in South Korea and so they dominated the pop scene together with SES and Baby VOX . In 2002 she made a cameo appearance as a member of Fin.KL in the film satire Emergency Measure 19 ( 긴급 조치 19 호 Gingeupjochi 19-ho ), in which numerous other South Korean pop stars can be seen.
Start of her solo career
One year after Fin.KL's fourth album called Forever , she released her first solo album STYLISH ... E hyOlee at the end of 2003 . For this album she cleared the Daesangs in 2003 and won three of the four most important music awards in South Korea. The album sold over 153,590 times in South Korea. She quickly became an icon and was referred to in public as "Hyori Syndrome" because it was present in all media. In addition, Lee Hyori took on the female lead in 2005 in the drama Three Leaf Clover . However, the show received poor ratings and was canceled after 16 episodes.
In 2005 she appeared in a Samsung Electronics commercial with the North Korean dancer Cho Myong-ae . This was later referenced in the film The Spy Gone North (2018).
A year later Lee released her second album, Dark Angel . The first song chosen to promote the album was "Get Ya". However, she was only able to perform with this song a few times before she was accused of plagiarism by the makers of Britney Spears '"Do Somethin'". After that, all performances of the song were stopped and Lee Hyori returned with a second single "Shall We Dance". However, due to the plagiarism allegation, neither the album nor the single was successful.
Change of label
In November 2006 it was announced that Lee Hyori had signed a three-year contract with Mnet Media for ₩ 2.2 billion . In February 2007, Lee Hyori starred in the mini-drama "If In Love ... Like Them", opposite Lee Dong-gun . Four episodes were broadcast on Mnet.
H-Logic
Two years after the release of the third album It's HYORISH , Lee Hyori released her fourth album H-Logic on April 23, 2010. The album contains 14 tracks and she collaborated with Big Bangs Daesung, 4minutes Jiyoon, After Schools Bekah, Gary von Leessang and Sang Chu von Mighty Mouth. She also worked again with E-Tribe, the duo that was also responsible for the song "U-Go-Girl" from their previous album. On March 31, 2010, Lee Hyori released the music video for Geune ( 그네 , Swing ). On April 13, 2010, she finally released the music video for the song "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".
