Life
2003–2009: debut and breakthrough
Gummy began playing the piano at the age of six and dreamed of a career that her mother had never been able to do. She graduated from Dongduk Women's University and released her first single When You Come Back in 2003 and her first album Like Them . She only had success with her second album It's Different , which was released on September 9, 2004 and with its title track Memory Loss ( 기억 상실 , kiok sangshil ) she won the 19th Golden Disk Awards and the "Mobile Popularity Award" at the Mnet Won Asian Music Awards .
The singer released her fourth album Comfort on March 12, 2008. The release date of the album had been postponed several times because Gummy was very concerned about the quality of the record, which should show her further development as a singer. TOP by BIG BANG can also be heard on the single I'm Sorry ( 미안 von , Mian haeyo ) ; He and labelmate Sandara Park from 2NE1 can also be seen in the music video for the single. The song was able to secure top 5 positions in various digital charts in Korea within a week of its appearance.
2010–2011: Comeback and Loveless (EP)
From 2008 to 2010 Gummy was on hiatus due to laryngitis . In April 2010, YG Entertainment announced further plans for Gummy, a little later on April 21, their single Loveless was in stores, the mini album of the same name followed a week later.
After a long time in Japan, during which she studied Japanese intensively and became familiar with the culture, Gummy made her debut in Japan in 2011. On October 15, 2011, she released a new music video with the remake of her hit I'm Sorry for the Japanese market.
2013: 10th anniversary, Snow Flower and the 2nd Japanese mini album
Gummy celebrated her 10th anniversary as a singer in 2013 with a fan meeting.
Gummy achieved another chart success with the song Snow Flower , which she recorded for the TV series That Winter, The Snow Blows . The song was placed at the top of the Gaon Charts .
Furthermore, the singer focused her activities again on Japan and released her second Japanese album, Fate (s) . Gummy was involved in the production of the album, for which she won the well-known Japanese producer Jeff Miyahara , who u. a. worked for artists like Namie Amuro and KAT-TUN . For the album, Gummy recorded the song Believe with Daesung from BIG BANG and two music videos were shot for it.
