Dagebüller fairway

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dagebüller fairway is a waterway in the North Frisian Wadden Sea . The foothills of the Norderaue run between Wyk auf Föhr and Dagebüll and is mainly used for the regular ferry services of the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei for trips between Dagebüll and Wyk and Wittdün on Amrum .

A tideunabhängiger traffic is possible since 1971, after the waterway was dredged for this purpose. Due to tides induced silting however regular dredging is necessary to keep to this condition. Occasionally, especially with an easterly wind with simultaneous low water , it happens that the water level in the fairway is too low and the ferries cannot leave the port of Dagebüll temporarily or run aground before entering.

The marking of the Dagebüller fairway serve inter alia for Oland lighthouse as cross light and the direction light Dagebüll as guidance beacons .
