Victor Găureanu
Victor Dan Găureanu (born November 15, 1967 in Nicolae Bălcescu , Botoșani district ; † May 20, 2017 ) was a Romanian saber fencer and coach of the Romanian national team.
successes
Victor Găureanu achieved fourth place with the Saber team at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . In 1994 at the World Championships he won bronze with the team. In 1999 he lost at the European Championships only to the eventual winner Wiradech Kothny and thus won bronze, with the team he won silver behind the team from France. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , he finished fourth with the team and eighth in the individual. In 2001 at the World Championships he won bronze with the team.
After retiring, he became a coach. He was at CSA Steaua and also coached the Romanian national saber team, together with Mihai Covaliu (until 2016) and Florin Zalomir .
