Daniel Guy "Dan" Wallin (born March 13, 1927 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American sound engineer .

Life

Wallin began his career in 1960, his feature film debut was the monumental film Spartacus . By 2013 he had worked on over 500 film productions, making him one of the busiest sound engineers in Hollywood . He was nominated for the first Oscar in the category Best Sound in 1971 for the documentary Woodstock ; A second Oscar nomination for A Star Is Born followed in 1977 . Wallin, however, came away empty-handed at both awards. For A Star Is Born , he also received a nomination for the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category .

Between 1993 and 2009 he was nominated three times for the Primetime Emmy for his achievements for television , in 2009 he won the award for the audio mixing of the television broadcast of the 2009 Academy Awards .
