The Dana Glacier is a 50 km long glacier in Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows from the southeastern slopes of the Welch Mountains in an initially eastward, later northeastern direction into the head end of Lehrke Inlet on the Black Coast , which it reaches immediately north of the Parmelee massif .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it in 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Commander John B. Dana of the United States Navy , commanding officer of the VXE-6 squadron during Operation Deep Freeze in 1973, which was also earlier was involved in operations in 1971 and 1972.
