The Parmelee Massif is a rugged and 1250 m high massif on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises to the west of the base of the Imshaug Peninsula at the head of the Lehrke Inlet .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the massif in 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1976 after the US-American biologist David Freeland Parmelee (1924-1998), who as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program on board icebreakers between In 1972 and 1975 three campaigns carried out ornithological studies in the area of the Antarctic Peninsula.
