Dani Klein at the Summer Festival Brussels 2007

Dani Klein , stage name of Danielle Schoovaerts (born January 1, 1953 in Brussels ) is a Belgian singer .

Live and act

Danielle Schoovaerts, best known as Dani Klein as a musician, began her career as a background singer for several Flemish bands - including the electronics project Arbeid Adelt! with Marcel Vanthilt - before her breakthrough in 1987 with the double bass player Dirk Schoufs, whom she met in a Brussels bar, and Willy Lambregt (lead guitar) with the first single Just a Friend of Mine by their joint band Vaya Con Dios . As a result, the band had great international success with titles such as Don't Cry for Louie , Nah Neh Nah and What's A Woman .

After a while the band members began to change constantly, only Dani Klein was there from the beginning. Musically, she mostly dealt with the early death of her bassist and good friend Dirk Schoufs in 1991 in the album Time Flies . In 1996 she broke up the band. It wasn't until 2004 that she produced another Vaya Con Dios album with The Promise . In 1999 Dani Klein recorded an album called Purple Prose with a new band of the same name.

In March 2013 the band Vaya Con Dios started the farewell tour with Dani Klein and two concerts in Bucharest, which ended in December 2013 in Vilnius and Tallinn . In 2015 Dani Klein released her first own album after the band left with Sal La Rocca , on which she reinterpreted songs by Billie Holiday . Dani Sings Billie entered the Belgian album charts in September.
