Salvatore "Sal" La Rocca (born August 20, 1961 in Seraing , Belgium ) is a Belgian jazz bassist.

Live and act

La Rocca grew up near Liège , where he attended the music academy. First he played blues and rock music on the guitar before he switched to the double bass at the age of 23 and played with jazz musicians such as Jacques Pelzer and Steve Houben . From the 1980s he worked a. a. with Michel Graillier , Bob Mover , Steve Grossman and in the band Vaya Con Dios . He recorded his debut album Latinea in 2003; In 2007 he worked with Jacques Schwarz-Bart . In 2012 he presented the album It Could Be the End at Igloo . La Rocca has also worked on recordings by Anne Ducros , Peter Hertmans , Nathalie Loriers , Pascal Mohy , Yves Teicher and Toots Thielemans .

In 2015 he recorded an album with cover songs by Billie Holiday with Vaya Con Dios singer Dani Klein . The album was also able to place itself in the Belgian charts.
