Daniel David John Adams-Ray (born August 18, 1983 in Nairobi , Kenya ) is a Swedish rapper , singer and fashion designer .

Career

Adams-Ray was born in Kenya to an Indonesian mother and a Scottish- Swedish father. While his mother was a headmistress, his father practiced as a plastic surgeon . In 1996 the family left the African continent and lived in the Netherlands for a few years , where he played football with the young Arjen Robben . They then moved to Sweden, where they lived from then on in Lidingö , a suburb of Stockholm . There, his parents bought and ran a plastic surgery clinic. Since Adams-Ray said he was bullied by some classmates because of his origins during his school days, he changed schools and went to Viktor Rydberg High School , where he met Oskar Linnros , with whom he then founded the rap project Snook .

Adams-Ray and his schoolmate Oskar Linnros formed a rap duo in 2000, which they called Snook . The albums Vi vet inte vart vi ska men vi ska komma dit (2004) and Är (2006) published by the project were both praised by the critics and , on the other hand, received massive criticism. Despite the sometimes severe criticism, the duo received awards from the Swedish radio station P3 , the Swedish Hip Hop Award 2003 and the MTV Europe Music Award 2006 as the best Swedish band. Daniel Adams-Ray also won the freestyle rap championship in 2004 and was nominated for the best Swedish rapper award in 2005.

After Snook broke up in 2009, Adams-Ray attended Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm and founded the Lagom fashion label . As a result, he produced music for a fashion show for his fashion label. Adams-Ray describes his music as "Kenyan Pop - Disco - Indie - Punk ". His music is influenced by the genres of Motown - disco , afrobeat , hip-hop and the surf music of the early 1960s.

In 2015 he contributed the vocals for Avicii's single Somewhere in Stockholm , which was published on his album Stories .

• Adams-Ray is fluent in English , French , Dutch , German and Swedish . He also has language skills in Italian and Swahili .
• He is related to the Swedish journalist and presenter Kersti Adams-Ray.
