Daniel Alomía Robles
Daniel Alomía Robles (born January 3, 1871 in Huánuco , Peru , † June 18, 1942 , Lima ) was a Peruvian musicologist and composer of operas and zarzuelas .
He is best known as the composer of the Zarzuela El cóndor pasa from 1913, which was declared the “Patrimonio cultural de la nación” (ie the “cultural heritage of the nation”) in 2004, and here again especially for the traditional Andes of the same name -Melody based theme song. Simon and Garfunkel played a very successful cover version of the song under the title El Condor Pasa (If I Could) on their 1970 album Bridge over Troubled Water .
