Daniel Cartus (born September 2, 1978 in Langenfeld (Rhineland) - Richrath ) is a former German soccer player who now works as a coach.

Player career

He made his professional football debut on November 9, 1998 for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the second division match against Tennis Borussia Berlin . For Düsseldorf, 1. FC Saarbrücken and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , he made a total of 66 second division appearances (seven goals) by August 2003. In the following years he played for the following clubs in the regional league: SC Paderborn 07 , SV Wehen and VfL Osnabrück . He can look back on 113 regional league appearances (20 goals).

Daniel Cartus moved from VfL Osnabrück to VfB Lübeck (Regionalliga Nord) for the 2007/08 season . After half a year, the club, which had run into financial problems, dissolved the contract with Cartus. Cartus then joined Kickers Emden on January 1, 2008 . In the 2008/09 season he played for the NRW league club Sportfreunde Siegen .

National team

In 1998 he played for Germany in the U-21 national team against Turkey.

Coaching

In the 2009/10 season Cartus took over the coaching position for the seventh-class national division TSV Weißtal in Siegerland for five months . During the winter break, however, he returned to Sportfreunde Siegen.

After he ended his active career, he was the coach of the 2nd team of Sportfreunde in the 2010/11 season and temporarily took over the coaching position in the 1st team of Siegen on May 4, 2011 until the end of the season after Andrzej Rudy was on leave . For the 2011/12 season he was the assistant coach of the Siegen head coach Michael Boris.

Since the beginning of the 2013/2014 season, Daniel Cartus was coach with Peter Bäumgen at the Sauerland district division VSV Wenden, but the contract was terminated by mutual agreement at the end of August 2013 after just one match day.

In September 2013 Cartus then took over the coaching position at his home club TuSpo Richrath in the Lower Rhine regional league. In the 2014/15 season he coached the district division 1. FC Monheim , which he left at his own request shortly before the winter break.

Cartus has been the head coach at A-Kreisligist FC Britannia Solingen since summer 2015 .

On November 16, 2017, he took up the position of head coach at the Mittelrhein-Landesligisten SC Fortuna Köln U23.
