Daniel Friday

Daniel Freitag (* 1986 in Steinheim (Westphalia) ) is a German singer , musician and composer .

Daniel Freitag founded his first bands when he was young. He studied musicology in Marburg and Berlin.

He initially worked as a musician and composer in numerous theaters. In 2017 he released his debut album "Still". In the video for the single “Don't”, actress Sandra Hüller plays an unemployed superhero. The video was nominated as best music video at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in 2018 . The song, which Friday also presented in the ZDF morning magazine, appeared in 2016 on a sampler by the Berlin label Staatsakt (label) .

Together with the drummer Max Andrzejewski and the trumpeter Nils Ostendorf he forms the Trio Polypore . He also works as a producer and mixer for artists like Sandra Hüller , Vögel eat Earth and Puzzles .

Theater music

In Marburg, Daniel Freitag began in 2008 to compose music for theater productions at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg . He continued this work in Berlin, where he composed music for productions by Thomas Ostermeier and Ivo van Hove at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz . He has worked at numerous German theaters such as the Münchner Kammerspiele , the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Schauspiel Frankfurt , as well as on foreign theaters such as the Toneelgroep Amsterdam , the Barbican Center in London and the Avignon Festival . In spring 2020 he took over the musical direction and composition for the production Decamerone directed by the Russian director Kirill Serebrennikow at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , where he is also on stage as a musician.
