Daniel Gevril
Daniel Gevril (born November 6, 1803 in Carouge near Geneva ; † July 24, 1875 there ) was a Swiss painter and drawing teacher .
Daniel Gevril was a member of the Gevril watchmaking family founded by Jacques Gevril. He was trained at the Ecole des Dessin in Geneva, first with François-Gédéon Reverdin , then with Joseph Hornung . He frequently took part in exhibitions between 1820 and 1861. In 1820 and 1826, for example, he showed portrait drawings, and in 1829 and 1830 enameled clock dials by Jean-Léonard Lugardon and Joseph Hornung. From 1830 onwards he only painted portraits. Gevril worked as a drawing teacher at the Berlin Academy in Neuchâtel in 1829/30, and from 1847 until his death at a school in Carouge. Joseph Mégard was one of his students .
