Daniel George Niculae (born October 6, 1982 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian football player .
Club career
Coming from the youth of Rapid Bucharest , Niculae made the leap into the professional team and was with Rapid in the league 1 season 2002/03 Romanian champion. In between 2001 he had played a few games for the Rapid farm team , the second division Electromagnetica Bucharest. In the summer of 2006 he moved to the French Ligue 1 for AJ Auxerre for allegedly 3.3 million euros . After four years at Auxerre, Niculae signed for AS Monaco in the summer of 2010 . With Monegasques he rose at the end of the 2010/11 season in the Ligue 2 from. He then went on loan to AS Nancy for a year . In the summer of 2012 Niculae moved to the first Russian division to FK Kuban Krasnodar . A year later he left the club and was without engagement for six months before Rapid Bucharest signed him in early 2014. After the rise in 2014 , his contract was not renewed. He returned to Rapid in early 2015. After the descent of Rapids at the end of the 2014/15 season , he was without a club for three months before Astra Giurgiu signed him . Niculae won the championship in 2016 with Astra .
From summer 2017 to 2018 he was under contract with Rapid Bucharest in League IV .
National team
Daniel Niculae made his debut on August 20, 2003 against Ukraine in the Romanian national football team . Until his last appearance on June 5, 2012, he had 39 international matches in which he scored nine goals. Niculae was part of Romania's squad at the 2008 European Football Championship .
