Daniel Piechaczek

Daniel Piechaczek (* 10. September 1974 in Geretsried ) is a professional ice hockey - referee , who in the German Ice Hockey League is busy and so far the ERSC Ottobrunn was assigned. He has been whistling for HC Landsberg since the 2014/2015 season.

After playing as a defender for TuS Geretsried in the season 94/95 in the then second-rate 1st League South , Daniel Piechaczek began his career as a hockey referee in the BEV in 1998, parallel to studying mechanical engineering . Just two years later, he received a license as a DEB referee for the area of ​​the three highest leagues. Since 2001 he was linesman in the DEL, a year later he got the main referee license for Germany's top division. As part of the DEL referee trainee program , the referee completed the renowned Level VI course in Canada. Since January 1st 2007 he is one of the professional referees of the DEL.

He gained his first experience in international tournaments in 2006: The IIHF nominated him for the U18 World Championship 2006 (Division I Group B) and a year later for the U20 World Championship (Division I Group A). He also directed the 2006 finals of the Deutschland Cup and the 2007 DEL All-Star Game . Since then, Piechaczek has led various World Cup games, including the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2017/18 Champions Hockey League final .
