Daniel Prandl

Daniel Prandl (born November 17, 1979 in Burghausen ) is a German jazz musician (piano, composition).

Live and act

Prandl was influenced by music early on. As a teenager he found jazz. From 2002 to 2006 he studied jazz piano with Joerg Reiter at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim and in 2006/2007 accepted an invitation from Jarmo Savolainen to study at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.

Prandl was active in Dirik Schilgen's band Jazzgrooves or with the Belgian singer Caroll Vanwelden as well as in the duo with the trumpeter Thomas Siffling , with whom he released the album Ballads . He was also one of Alexandra Lehmler's bands , with whom the albums Sundance and No Blah Blah were created. He leads his own quartet (with Wolfgang Fuhr , Axel Kühn and Kristof Körner), with whom he released the albums Fables & Fiction and The Hero's Journey . He is also a permanent member of the band Schlag auf Schlag , who musically designs radio and television productions for NDR, WDR and SWR; as a theater musician he worked regularly for the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Mannheim Capitol .

He also works as a lecturer and wrote his first book for Alfred Verlag, Play-Along Realtime Moviestandards (2014).

Prizes and awards

As part of the university competition of the Rectors' Conference in Hamburg, Prandl received a soloist prize for outstanding performance; there he won first place with the big band of the Mannheim University of Music. With the Alexandra Lemler quintet he reached the finals of the Future Sounds competition of the Leverkusener Jazztage in 2009 and in 2010 the finals of the 3rd jazz competition Palma Comercial on Mallorca.
