Daniel Rezende

Daniel Rezende (* 1969 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian film editor and director .

Life

Daniel Rezende studied at the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) and then began an internship at the Brazilian film production company O2 Films , where he edited commercials for Fernando Meirelles, among others . It was then Meirelles for whom Rezende was allowed to edit the drama City of God and for which he has so far celebrated his greatest successes with an Oscar nomination for Best Editing and an award from the British Academy Film Award for Best Editing .

Rezende also directed the two short films Blackout and Wing It for the first time. In 2017 he made his first feature film, Bingo: O Rei das Manhãs, which was submitted as an official Brazilian entry for an Oscar nomination in the category of Best Foreign Language Film . The film tells the story of the evangelical pastor Arlindo Barreto (played by Vladimir Brichta ) who, as the Brazilian version of Bozo, the clown, has great success on television, but is contractually obliged to keep his true identity a secret.
