Daniel Rumpius ( Daniel Rump ; * 1549 , † around 1600) was a German Protestant clergyman and hymn poet .

Life

Rump worked in Stepnitz and in the Marienfließ nunnery, which had become Protestant . He created a number of sacred songs that he adapted in familiar secular ways . Robbed of his possessions by a village fire and after a serious illness he began to write poetry again and "to sing songs with tears".

From his song booklet / Darinn understood teaching / consolation / Vermanung… , Uelzen 1587, which is only preserved in one copy in the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel , the song Der Morgenstern has been forced into the songs of the Evangelical Church ( EG  69).
