Award affair

In May 2017 it was alleged that Behrens should have exerted impermissible influence in the run-up to an order. An agency known to the State Secretary was awarded an order worth 180,000 euros after the company had previously received extensive personal advice from Behrens. In the official statement of the ministry it said: "There have been errors in the award procedure, the preliminary discussions have led to a restriction of competition". The 74 other providers are said to have had no chance. Since then, there have been allegations of budget infidelity. As a result of the allegations, she asked Minister Olaf Lies to be released in May 2017 . In the meantime, the Hanover public prosecutor's office has finally checked the allegations and has not recognized any criminal consequences. There was no initial suspicion, nor had state funds been embezzled.
