Daniela Radkowa ( Bulgarian Даниела Радкова , born October 29, 1972 in Levski , People's Republic of Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian singer and soloist of the Goran Bregović Orchestra and the sister of the singer Ludmila Radkowa . She sings Bulgarian national songs and Balkan folklore.

Daniela Radkowa-Alexandrowa was born on October 29, 1972 in Levski in northern Bulgaria . From an early age, Daniela and her sister Ludmila were surrounded by the magical atmosphere of folk art. First and foremost in the family: the mother worked with folklore, theater and choral arts in the community center, the father was known as a singer and dancer. All of childhood passed with songs.

In 1990 Daniela finished the art music school and was invited as a soloist in the National Folklore Ensemble Philip Koutev , in which she sang with her sister Ludmila until further notice, but due to an intensive tour schedule (about 100 concerts per year) with Goran Bregović and his orchestra for Weddings and funerals leave the ensemble.

The acquaintance with Goran Bregović arose in May 1995 in the Balkanton studio while recording the music for the film Underground by Emir Kusturica . Kusturica suggested listening to the soloists of the Philip Koutev ensemble . Goran Bregović was impressed by their voices and their talent for improvisation. A month later, the siblings were invited on the first tour of the Goran Bregović Orchestra.

Since 1995 Daniela and Ludmila Radkova have been permanent soloists in the orchestra for weddings and funerals of Goran Bregović, who calls the siblings his lucky charms. The Old Daniela's and the soprano Ludmila are a perfect combination of voices. On the stage comes Daniela in a colorful embroidered national Samokov -dress. Together with Ludmila, they traditionally perform the Bulgarian folk song Vecheraj Rado ( a cappella ) and the composition Ederlezi, which is well known in the Balkans . At the request of the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov , Daniela Radkova was awarded the Medal for Merit in 2009 for her commitment to the development and popularization of Bulgarian folk culture around the world.

In 2015 she was made an honorary citizen of the city of Levski .
