Daniele Damiano

Daniele Damiano (born July 14, 1961 in Asti ) is an Italian bassoonist .

Daniele Damiano studied bassoon at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi Turin until 1982 and bassoon with Milan Turković in Vienna from 1985 to 1987 . He became a member of the World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales in 1981 , was principal bassoonist with the RAI Orchestra Turin from 1982 to 1985, in the same position with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from 1985 to 1987 and has been principal bassoonist with the Berlin Philharmonic since 1987 . He is a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Octet, the Philharmonic Octet and the Vienna-Berlin Ensemble. Daniele Damiano taught at the Mozarteum Salzburg from 1992 to 1994 , was professor at the Accademia musicale Chigiana in Siena from 1993 to 1998 and professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève from 1999 to 2001 . In 1993 he recorded the piano quintets by Mozart and Beethoven with Daniel Barenboim and members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra . This recording received a Grammy .
