Danielle Susan Allen (born November 3, 1971 in Takoma Park ) is an American classical philologist and political scientist .

Life

She earned an AB at Princeton University in Classics in 1993, an MPhil at the King's College of the University of Cambridge in Classics in 1994, a PhD at King's College, University of Cambridge in Classics in 1996, an MA at Harvard University in Government in 1998 and a Ph .D. at Harvard University in Government 2001. From 2003 to 2007 she was Professor of Political Science and Classical Philology at the University of Chicago . From 2007 to 2015 she teaches as UPS Foundation Professor at the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study . She has been a professor in the Department of Government at Harvard University since 2015.

She is the daughter of political scientist William B. Allen .

In 2013, Allen was a member of the Pulitzer Prize jury .
