Alex Hitchcock

Alex Hitchcock (* around 1990 in London ) is a British musician ( tenor saxophone , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Hitchcock studied music at the Royal Academy of Music . In 2016 he made his debut EP Live at the London and Cambridge Jazz Festivals , which was released in 2018 and was accompanied by a nationwide tour with performances at the Pizza Express Jazz Club, Ronnie Scott’s , the Love Supreme Festival and the Royal Albert Hall . In 2017 he played in the Patchwork Jazz Orchestra ( The Adventures of Mr Pottercakes? ); In 2018 he recorded his debut album All Good Things , starring James Copus (trumpet, flugelhorn), Will Barry (piano), Joe Downard (bass) and Jay Davis (drums). Furthermore, he has so far performed with musicians such as Chris Cheek , Soweto Kinch , Stan Sulzmann , Mark Lockheart , Andrew McCormack , Maria Chiara Argirò , Thibaut François , Dennis Rollins , the BBC Big Band , The Blackbyrds and the duo André Charlier / Benoît Sourisse . Recordings were made with the formation Resolution 88 ( Afterglow , 2016) and Joe Hill's North Ark (2018).

Hitchcock has also made guest appearances at international festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival , Jazz à Vienne , the Fano Jazz by the Sea , Festival Mas i Mas in Spain and the Glastonbury Festival . In 2020 he belongs to the quartet AuB , in which Tom Barford (saxophone), Fergus Ireland (bass) and James Maddren (drums) play. Hitchcock, who also works as a studio musician for the BBC and Channel 4 , lives in London.
