Danny Heister
Danny Heister (born November 18, 1971 in Zevenaar ) is a Dutch table tennis player and trainer.

Heister is left-handed. He won 31 titles at the national Dutch championships, 11 times in singles, 15 times in doubles and five times in mixed. From 1989 to 2007 he took part in all 12 world championships with the exception of 2004 . He was also nominated for the European Championships in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2005. Here he reached the semi-finals in doubles with Trinko Keen in 2002 . In the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-12 he came in fifth in 2000 and 2002. He qualified for the 1996 , 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics . In January 2003 he was ranked 16th in the ITTF world rankings .
Heister was active in Germany for about 13 years. Coming from ACSF Fontenay Paris, he joined the Würzburger Kickers in 1994 . In 1996 he moved to TTV Gönnern in the Bundesliga , with whom he won the 1997 DTTB Cup. In 2003 he was signed by Borussia Düsseldorf . With Düsseldorf he reached the final of the ETTU Cup in 2006/07. In 2007 he returned to the Netherlands and joined the FV Teylingen club.
Heister is considered a fair sportsman. At the German Open 1999 he corrected a wrong decision by the referee to his disadvantage in the decision set against Bastian Steger at 20:19 deficit, which meant the final defeat.
Trainer
From the beginning of 2005 Heister worked as a player-coach for the Dutch national team. In 2009 he was the coach of the Dutch men's and youth national team. In June 2010 he took over the coaching position at Borussia Düsseldorf as the successor to Dirk Wagner . Here he won the triple of Champions League , championship and cup straight away in the 2010/11 season . A year later he led the team to the German championship title and winning the ETTU Cup . After losing injured players, Heister jumped in as a player in some games this season.
Private
Heister is married to his wife Nicoline. He has three children with her.
