Danny Swanson , actually: Daniel Joseph Swanson (born December 28, 1986 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player .

Career

Danny Swanson began his professional career in the 2005/06 season with the Scottish fourth division Berwick Rangers . In the first season he reached with the Rangers the promotion play-offs to the third division , which were lost to Alloa Athletic . In the 2006/07 season he was directly promoted to the fourth division. In January 2008 Swanson moved to the Scottish first division club Dundee United . For the club Swanson completed 108 league games and scored 12 goals in the following four seasons. The greatest success was the win in the Scottish Cup final against Ross County in 2010 . In June 2012, the 25-year-old Swanson moved to England for second division club Peterborough United . With Peterborough he rose in the first season in the third division, but was able to win the League Trophy in the final against Chesterfield FC with the club a year later . After two years Swanson moved to Coventry City . After being used only fifteen times by February 2015, the offensive midfielder was loaned out to St. Johnstone FC . He helped the Saints to qualify for the European Cup with two goals in eleven games by the end of the season . On his return to Coventry, the contract was terminated early and Swanson signed a contract with Heart of Midlothian after a trial session in his hometown . After only five months he left the club and signed another contract with FC St. Johnstone .
